Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is traveling to Syria on an unannounced visit around four weeks after the fall of ruler Bashar al-Assad. The Green politician wanted to fly from Cyprus to Damascus in the morning. In the Syrian capital, she and her French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot want to speak to the new de facto rulers on behalf of the European Union.
