We could not find even 1,000 dollars of fake money in the market, let alone 600 million dollars or 1 billion dollars of fake money.”
In recent days, concern continues in many provinces, especially in Istanbul, regarding allegations of fake 50 and 100 dollar banknotes. All Authorized Institutions and Exchange Offices Association (TÜYEMDER) made a press statement on the subject in the Grand Bazaar. TÜYEMDER President Mehti Şeren said that the news that there are 600 million dollars and 1 billion dollars of fake money in the market are unfounded. Şeren said, “The fake dollar claims circulating in the public recently are greatly exaggerated and do not reflect the truth. Serious perception and disinformation are being carried out on the country’s economy and it is aimed to create an atmosphere of panic among our people. As a representative of the sector, as a result of our work with all members and in the field, the fake currencies subject to the allegations are The evidence that most clearly reveals this perception is the banknote I am holding in my hand. As a result of our work for a week, we have only found 2 fake banknotes. “Apart from this money, no counterfeit currency was found in the Grand Bazaar,” he said.
