Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat said that the August export record in the history of the Republic was broken with exports of 22.1 billion dollars in August.
Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced the foreign trade figures for August in Istanbul.
Minister Bolat said that the foreign trade deficit decreased in 11 of the last 13 months.
Minister Bolat’s statements are as follows;
“More exports, more production, more employment and achieving a well-balanced figure in current transactions constitute healthy growth. The highest August exports in the history of our Republic were realized as 22.1 billion dollars with a 2.4 percent increase.
Annual goods exports of 262 billion dollars were realized, this means an increase of 8.9 billion dollars in exports in the last year. The decreasing trend in imports continues, imports decreased to 27 billion dollars in August, there is a 10.8 percent decrease, a decrease of 3.3 billion dollars in value.
The decrease in foreign trade continues, foreign trade decreased by 43.4 percent in August, the lowest trade deficit in the last 34 months was realized and fell to 4.9 billion dollars. Our foreign trade deficit decreased, this also had a positive effect on the export-import coverage ratio. Our foreign trade deficit decreased in 11 of the last 13 months. The export-import coverage ratio followed a positive course and increased to 81.7 percent, increased by 10.5 points, the highest coverage ratio in the last 34 months was realized. In January-August, there was a 3.9 percent increase in 8-month goods exports, rising to 170.8 billion dollars. While imports in January-August were 247.0 billion dollars in the same period last year, they decreased to 225.7 billion dollars this year.
