Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his condolences to his Iranian colleague Massoud Peseschkian on the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Iranian military has apparently fired two missiles towards Cyprus. This is reported by the British media BBC, citing Great Britain’s Defense Minister John Healey. He said that two rockets were fired towards Cyprus, although they were not necessarily aimed at the country. The British military shot down the rockets.
Britain maintains two sovereign military bases in Cyprus. “This shows how much our bases, our personnel, military personnel and civilians are currently at risk from a regime whose attacks are increasingly indiscriminate, widespread and uncontrolled,” the medium continued, quoting Healey. The defense secretary also said that around 300 British military personnel were stationed near the targets attacked in Bahrain.
Iranian President Massoud Peseschkian said the killing of Khamenei was a “declaration of war on Muslims.” He also describes revenge as Iran’s “legitimate right and duty.” His country will do its utmost to fulfill this duty, the president said in a statement.
