Apple today announced the iPhone 16, which it says was “built from the ground up” for Apple Intelligence. The iPhone 16 includes a new camera control button on the side of the device to make it easier to take photos and videos. Apple calls it ‘Camera Control’. The action button, previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro, is also available on the iPhone 16, replacing the mute button.
CONTAINS THE HARDEST GLASS
Apple says the iPhone 16 features Apple’s toughest glass yet, protecting the screen from scratches. The iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch screen. The iPhone 16 Plus has a 6.7-inch screen. The new Camera Control button is touch-sensitive. You can press the Camera Control to take a photo or slide your finger across the Camera Control to adjust the zoom level.
Apple is also rolling out new visual AI features that can be quickly accessed via Camera Control.
50 PERCENT STRONGER CERAMIC SHIELD
iPhone 16 features a new dedicated camera button on the side, as well as a 50 percent stronger ceramic shield to protect against scratches and drops. Apple today announced the new A18 chip, featuring a six-core CPU, five-core GPU, and sixteen-core Neural Engine for faster AI performance.
Apple also said the A18 has a new memory subsystem to handle data traffic as quickly as possible. Apple says the A18 chip provides up to a 30 percent increase in single-core CPU performance compared to the iPhone 15, which has the A16 Bionic chip.
LONGER BATTERY LIFE
Apple also promised longer battery life for users thanks to the chip’s efficiency gains and a larger internal battery, though specific figures to back up that claim were not revealed during the presentation.
