The Eurozone economy grew by 0.4 percent in the second quarter of this year compared to the previous quarter.
The European Statistical Office announced the preliminary gross domestic product (GDP) data of the European Union (EU) and the Euro Zone for the second quarter of 2026.
Accordingly, seasonally adjusted GDP in the Eurozone increased by 0.4 percent in the second quarter of the year compared to the first quarter.
GDP in the Eurozone increased by 1 percent in the second quarter of the year compared to the second quarter of last year.
Market expectation was that GDP in the Eurozone would increase by 0.2 percent on a quarterly basis and 0.5 percent on an annual basis. It was noteworthy that the announced data exceeded expectations.
Seasonally adjusted GDP in the EU increased by 0.5 percent on a quarterly basis and 1.2 percent on an annual basis in the second quarter of the year.
GDP increased by 0.2 percent in Germany, France and Italy and by 0.7 percent in Spain in the second quarter compared to the previous quarter. In the second quarter, GDP increased by 0.9 percent in Germany, 0.7 percent in France, 1 percent in Italy and 2.7 percent in Spain compared to the same period last year.
