EU to impose stricter rules on platform X

The EU Commission announced that it was determined that X, owned by Elon Musk, is not an “essential” platform within the scope of the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

In the statement, it was reminded that the EU has been conducting a market review regarding the position of the

“THRESHOLD GUARD”

Under the EU’s law, which brought about changes in the activities of digital platforms, large platforms and companies operating in Europe were called “gatekeepers” and began to be subject to strict obligations.

Platforms classified in this way were required to comply with new rules that would increase competition, offer consumers more choice, ensure the interoperability of their services, and prevent them from placing their own services ahead of similar services from competitors.

Companies that act as “gatekeepers” can be fined up to 10 percent of their global turnover if they violate the rules.
