Energy import bill increased by 5.1 percent in June

The amount Turkey paid for energy imports increased by 5.1 percent in June compared to the same month last year, reaching 4 billion 548 million 619 thousand dollars.

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics prepared by the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Trade, Turkey’s total imports in June decreased by 4.4 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 24 billion 920 million 320 thousand dollars.

Of this amount, $4 billion 548 million 619 thousand was made up of “mineral fuels, mineral oils and products obtained from their distillation, bituminous substances, mineral waxes”, summarized as energy imports.

This figure was recorded as 4 billion 329 million 189 thousand dollars in June 2023. Thus, the amount of energy imports increased by 5.1 percent on an annual basis.

During this period, crude oil imports decreased by 5.2 percent to 2 million 841 thousand 675 tons.
