Electricity production from solar power plants reached an all-time high with 4.99 billion kilowatt-hours in June.
According to the statement made by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, while the sunshine duration increased in the summer months, this was positively reflected in the electricity production data.
According to the Ministry’s data, monthly electricity production in June reached the highest value in all Junes with 30.35 billion kilowatt-hours.
Additionally, last month, solar electricity generation broke a record, reaching an all-time high of 4.99 billion kilowatt-hours. Thus, 16.4 percent of the total electricity production in June was met by solar.
Hydroelectric power plants continued to take the lion’s share of electricity production in June. 10.54 billion kilowatt-hours, corresponding to 34.7 percent of the electricity production in June, was provided by hydraulic resources.
In addition, last month, renewable sources in electricity production reached their highest monthly levels since 2000, with 20.65 billion kilowatt-hours and domestic sources with 24.22 billion kilowatt-hours.
In the production carried out in the first 6 months of the year, hydraulic electricity production reached 57 billion kilowatt hours, wind generated electricity production 21.5 billion kilowatt hours, solar generated electricity production 19.2 billion kilowatt hours, electricity production from domestic resources 130.9 billion kilowatt hours, and renewable electricity production reached the highest values compared to similar periods with 108.7 billion kilowatt hours.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, whose views were included in the statement, said, “We will continue to utilize our domestic and renewable energy resources at the highest level. We will continue to work to transform Anatolia’s abundant sun into the prosperity of our nation.” he said.
