In the written statement made after the meeting, it was stated that the bill regarding fund liquidations was submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly and that after the proposal was discussed and enacted in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, it was envisaged that the interim payments of the fund victims would be started as soon as possible.
On the other hand, it was stated that the steps to be taken to strengthen the capital markets were also discussed at the meeting.
The statement made by the Board is as follows:
“The eighth meeting of the Economic Coordination Board (EKK) for 2026 was held today.
The global economy is going through a period where uncertainties and risks have reached historical high levels and multiple shocks are experienced. Supply shocks and disruptions in supply chains caused by war suppress the global economic outlook. In this environment, the importance of economic resilience and stability increases even more.
Thanks to the economic program we implemented, growth has achieved a more balanced structure, unemployment and inflation have decreased, financial stability has been strengthened and fiscal discipline has been established. While preserving the gains we have achieved in the coming period, we will strengthen the foundations of sustainable and inclusive growth by increasing the production capacity, efficiency and competitiveness of our economy.
In our country, increasing the quantity and quality of education and strengthening the education-employment connection is one of our priority policy areas. In this regard, we have been allocating the largest share of our budget to education for years. We also see the results of the policies we implement in international indicators. According to the PISA 2025 results announced by the OECD, Türkiye increased its ranking in all areas and became the only OECD country that increased its performance in the last 10 years. On the other hand, improvements have been achieved in many international indicators, especially scientific research performance in higher education. We expect that the gains made in education will contribute significantly to the increase in productivity in our economy in the coming period.
In this period when the world is experiencing green, digital and demographic transformation, it is important to develop skills and competencies that will meet the changing needs of the labor market. We will continue our education and employment policies in line with technological developments, sectoral needs and strategic priorities. Thus, we will support productivity while increasing the supply of qualified labor in the areas where it is needed. We will encourage the employment participation of those who have difficulty in participating in the workforce, especially young people and women.
The main issues discussed at the EKK meeting are as follows:
The studies carried out to strengthen human capital were discussed and the policies planned to be implemented for the needs of the labor market were evaluated.
The impact of the revisions made within the scope of balance of payments statistics on the net errors and omissions item was evaluated.
Necessary steps are taken in coordination by our relevant institutions regarding problematic funds. The Bill, which aims to carry out the liquidation processes in a fair, transparent and legal manner, was submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly and was accepted by the Planning and Budget Commission. We envisage that interim payments will start as soon as possible after the proposal is discussed in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and becomes law.
Thanks to our strong macroeconomic fundamentals and the policies we implement decisively, we expect the effects of the developments on the financial system and the real economy to remain limited. With the measures taken, we aim to increase the reliability and efficiency of our capital markets and provide our market with a healthier, stronger and more durable structure.
In line with our goal of sustainable and inclusive growth in the Turkish Century, we will continue to implement policies that increase productivity, accelerate green and digital transformation, strengthen the efficiency of the labor market and ensure the spread of economic gains to large segments of society.
It is announced to the public with respect.”
