Disney+ has made a significant change that directly affects the image quality in some countries in Europe. The platform announced that it has temporarily removed the 4K and HDR10 support available to Premium subscribers.

The company stated that this decision was taken due to an ongoing patent case and that efforts are continuing to reintroduce the features. Disney+, which ended Dolby and 3D support in June, ended 4K and HDR10 support in many European countries this week.

The main reaction here was that Premium users who paid additional fees to access these features were not offered any discounts or refunds during this period. Although it was not within Disney’s control to lose the case, it was in the company’s hands not to victimize users in the process. However, no steps were taken in this direction.

Those most affected by the decision were Premium subscribers. Users who expect high image quality by paying additional fees criticize the fact that no discount or refund is given despite the removal of the features.

It is stated that the change, which was first seen in countries such as Germany, Belgium, Portugal and Denmark, is limited to the borders of the European Union for now. On the other hand, 4K and HDR10 support continues to be offered in some countries such as the United Kingdom.
