Tosyalı was at the SAHA EXPO International Defense, Aviation and Space Industry Fair organized by SAHA Istanbul, Europe’s largest industrial cluster, under the auspices of the Presidency, with the support of 6 ministries and the Presidency of Defense Industries, and in the global communication partnership of the Anadolu Agency, at the Istanbul Expo Center. He answered the questions of the AA reporter.
Emphasizing that domestic engine projects take the independence of the national defense industry one step further, Tosyalı said, “Because every equipment you procure from abroad involves a commitment. You cannot use it here. You cannot export it. If you are going to do it, you must get permission from us. We work with BMC POWER, especially for the vehicles of our Land Forces.” “We have completely eliminated its dependence on abroad.” he said.
Reminding that they introduced VURAN vehicles with 100 percent domestic BMC POWER engines last year, Tosyalı stated that they started production of KİRPİ vehicles with BMC POWER engines this year.
The era of domestic engines at sea after land
Stating that their success in the power groups of land vehicles attracted the attention of the naval forces, Tosyalı said that the company was given the honor of producing the BMC Marin engine.
Tosyalı stated that this situation is exciting for them and said:
“Because now, our local and national engines and power groups are starting to be used in our marine vehicles. We are starting with small and medium-sized engines. We are working intensively on localization and design. We have a large team of engineers. We do not shy away from any investment in this regard. I hope that our Naval Forces will step by step “We will also provide our forces with the marine engines they need.”
“We are in the mass production phase of the tank”
Sharing up-to-date information about the tank engine they produced for the ALTAY tank, Tosyalı stated that the tank engine production process arose out of a great need and that studies in this direction started due to the problems experienced in supply from abroad.
Tosyalı stated that this was the reason why BMC POWER was first established, and that the tank engine has been developed step by step since then.
Emphasizing that the ALTAY power group is very special, Tosyalı gave the following information:
“There are 6 or 7 countries in the world that can produce this. We are one of them. We have produced our engine. It is undergoing intensive testing at the test center. We delivered our first 2 tanks last year. Our Land Forces are testing it. It has gone through all the testing stages without any problems. Now we are in the mass production phase. Ankara.’ “Our tank factory investment in Turkey continues at full speed. By the end of next year, our tank factory will be completed with all its units and the first tanks will be produced and delivered to our forces.”
Tosyalı explained that the Korean force groups will be included in the first tanks until the test phases of their own force groups are completed.
“We can develop and adapt to all demands coming from the field”
Reminding that they announced the ALTAY tank as the New ALTAY tank when they delivered it last year, Tosyalı pointed out that the tank was first designed according to the field conditions 10 years ago.
Pointing out that the battlefield now demands more qualified equipment, Tosyalı said, “Only the external similarity of the new ALTAY tank and the first ALTAY tank remains. Its electronic capabilities and satellite ground connections are completely up-to-date, even ahead of time. In other words, all possible technologies of the future are present in our New ALTAY tank. Close contact with our forces.” “We are able to develop and adapt to all demands coming from the field.” he said.
“Our exports are at a very good point”
Providing information about the company’s goals, Tosyalı said that BMC is one of the most established companies in Turkey.
Fuat Tosyalı stated that they have a very wide portfolio and that they continue their way without falling behind the times and even breaking new ground within this portfolio.
Expressing that they received great attention at SAHA EXPO, Tosyalı said, “Our lines are full. If your goods are good and really capable, there will be many buyers. And if you are not tied to a place… Long ago, we had big problems in exports. We used to produce the vehicle, because we bought the engine from abroad, “You can’t sell it to such and such a country, you can’t give it there, you can’t send it there. They used to have permissions that lasted for months. Now we can sit at the table and shake hands. Our exports are at a very good point.” he said.
