The Secret Service apparently directs Trump to a hall. Kamala Harris is more open about cryptocurrencies. All information in the news blog.
5.45 a.m.: The Secret Service has told Donald Trump’s campaign that it will have to postpone a planned outdoor event in Wisconsin, according to a report by ABC News. It was unable to protect its outdoor rally in Wisconsin on Saturday due to staffing issues, a source familiar with the situation said. Apparently the Secret Service, which guards US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as well as Donald Trump, has reached its capacity limit because of the UN General Assembly, it is said.
5.15 a.m.: The North Carolina Board of Elections has removed 747,000 people from the list of registered voters over the past 20 months, officials announced in a news release Thursday. It states that most of the people removed from the rolls were deemed ineligible to register because they had moved within the state and did not register their new address, or because they had not voted in the last two federal elections.
North Carolina is one of seven “swing states” where the presidential election could be decided between Vice President Harris and former President Trump. Only one Democrat this century, Barack Obama in 2008, has won the state in a presidential election. Harris is currently close to Trump in the polls.
3:20 a.m.: US Vice President Kamala Harris has signaled support for the expansion of the cryptocurrency industry in the United States. She is apparently trying to refute claims, especially from the Trump camp, that she would seek a tough crackdown on the fast-growing but controversial sector.
Speaking in Pittsburgh on the economy on Wednesday, Harris said it was important for the United States to maintain its dominance in blockchain technology, which facilitates trading of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, The Washington Post reports. The Harris campaign released a document saying it would “promote innovative technologies like AI and digital assets,” a nod to cryptocurrencies and similar technologies like stablecoins. Harris promised donors in New York City on Sunday a “safer business environment” for digital assets.
2.45 a.m.: In the contested swing states, Donald Trump’s campaign workers are apparently being looked after by a support organization that is largely financed by Tesla boss Elon Musk. According to a report in the Guardian, the Trump campaign management is said to have outsourced the local work to the America Pac.
This should hire campaign workers to go door to door and advertise for Trump. A total of up to 400 helpers are said to be employed in seven countries. In July, Elon Musk announced that he would donate $45 million to the “America Pac”. Doorstep visits have so far been a strength of the Democrats in campaigns, but now the Trump campaign also wants to try to convince voters who are still undecided, especially in rural areas. The support committee is also supported by the Winklevoss brothers and former US Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft.
1:10 a.m.: A major shareholder in Trump Media and former contestant on “The Apprentice” has sold almost all of his stake in former President Donald Trump’s social media company. According to current prices on Thursday, the share package is worth around $100 million.
United Atlantic Ventures, which is led by Trump Media & Technology Group co-founder Andy Litinsky, now owns just 100 shares of the company, according to filings released Thursday, according to CNN. That’s down from just over 7.5 million shares the company owned at the end of March. An attorney for United Atlantic Ventures did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Litinsky was a contestant on Trump’s NBC show “The Apprentice,” which helped boost Trump’s profile in the United States.
