Chicago and Illinois complain against national guard use

In Oregon, a judge Trump’s plans to use the national guard inside have recently stopped several times. But Trump also wants to use soldiers elsewhere – now there is another complaint.
The US state of Illinois and Chicago complain against the plan of the US government to use soldiers from the national guard in the city of the million against their will. It was illegal that US President Donald Trump and his government put national guards under federal inspection in order to proceed in the city against allegedly sprawling crime, the lawsuit said. The state and city ask the court to put a bar on the endeavors. They explicitly include both national guards from Illinois and Texas.
The dispute over a commitment to the National Guard in Chicago, where people have been protesting against raids from the immigration authority for weeks, had cooked up at the weekend: US defense minister Pete Hegseth ordered 300 national guards from Illinois under federal control, as can be seen from court documents. They should therefore protect federal officials, such as ICE, and federal property.
Illinois “Governor JB Pritzker said on Monday night on X that Trump also called up 400 national gardens from Texas to use them in Illinois, in Oregon and other places in the USA.” We now have to start describing it as: Trump’s invasion, “wrote Pritzker.
In a similarly stored case, the state of Oregon and the city of Portland had recently sued Trump. For the time being, a court stopped the use of national guards who are stationed in the state of Oregon. The US government reacted by ordering soldiers from another state – California – to Portland – but the court also blocked this step a little later.
In the United States, the governors of a state usually have control over the national guard. If there is a war or national emergencies, the US President can take command. The National Guard is a military reserve unit and part of the US armed forces. For example, it can be used for natural disasters, unrest or emergencies inside.
