ÇAYKUR General Manager Yusuf Ziya Alim said regarding daily fresh tea purchases, “We estimate that the density will decrease after our field-based examinations. Therefore, we will continue our path with 40 kilograms today and free purchases in the following days.”

Alim, in his statement to AA correspondent, stated that they started the second exile recruitment on June 26 and that the second exile period continues intensively.

Stating that they are working to prevent producers from being victimized, Alim said, “All our employees are working towards this goal. We are trying not to victimize our producers by purchasing above our capacity. Finally, our producers, who took advantage of the official holiday on July 13-14-15, harvested tea intensively. During the period in question, we made purchases far above our daily capacity. While our daily capacity was 9,250 tons, we made purchases almost twice our capacity during this period.”

QUOTA IS LIFTING

Alim emphasized that fresh tea should be processed without waiting after harvest and said, “Therefore, we stopped purchasing for one day on July 17 because of the intensive purchasing in the previous days. After processing the products we had, we continued purchasing again on July 18. When the intensity continued, we reduced the purchasing limit per decare to 20 kilograms on July 20 so that the products our producers sold to ÇAYKUR would not be wasted.”

Noting that they are monitoring fresh tea stocks, Alim said, “When the tea stocks that need to be processed decreased, we increased this to 25 kilograms on July 21. We estimate that the density will decrease after our field-based examinations. Therefore, today we will continue on our path of 40 kilograms and free purchase in the following days.”

Underlining that producers know ÇAYKUR’s purchasing policy and follow it closely, Alim concluded his words as follows:

“As ÇAYKUR, we are the guarantee of our tea producers. If the fresh tea product is kept on the branch with little patience, we will easily purchase the crop from the producer. Our aim is not to waste the product after harvest. This situation was also found reasonable by our producer. If ÇAYKUR had not made this guidance, the victimization would have been greater. As of the second shoot, we have purchased 152 thousand tons of fresh tea so far. We continue our purchases without any problems.”
