According to the report of market research company International Data Corporation (IDC), global smartphone sales reached 331.7 million units in the last quarter of 2024, an increase of 2.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
The report stated that sales grew for the sixth consecutive quarter, and global smartphone sales increased by 6.4 percent on an annual basis in 2024, reaching 1.24 billion units.
The report stated that growth in the market is expected to continue this year, albeit at a slower pace, and also included the sales figures of the top five players in the market.
The report pointed out that Apple and Samsung maintained their top two positions in the fourth quarter and throughout the year, but experienced a decrease in their sales on an annual basis, and explained that the market shares of the two companies shrank due to the growth recorded by Chinese sellers.
According to IDC data, in the last quarter of last year, Apple ranked first with a market share of 23.2 percent.
Samsung ranked second with 15.6 percent market share, while Xiaomi ranked third with 12.9 percent. Transsion and Vivo shared the fourth place with 8.2 percent market shares each.
In the last quarter of last year, Apple’s smartphone sales volume decreased by 4.1 percent and Samsung’s by 2.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
