Shahbazov answered the questions of an AA correspondent within the scope of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which continues in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

Explaining that Azerbaijan announced an important project to combat the climate crisis at COP29, Shahbazov said, “We put forward three obligations and three initiatives. These consist of five very important contents.” he said.

Noting that the initiatives in question were presented under the titles “Green Energy Commitment”, “Global Energy Storage and Networks Commitment” and “COP29 Hydrogen Declaration”, Shahbazov said, “Such projects also exist between Azerbaijan and Turkey. We are currently working on them.” he said.

Shahbazov emphasized that increasing energy storages and strengthening electrical grid networks are important in the fight against climate change, and said that they made suggestions on international standards, certification and other issues, especially for hydrogen.

Stating that Turkey supports Azerbaijan in these initiatives, Shahbazov said, “These suggestions will be important tools for the goals of tripling the renewable energy capacity and doubling the energy efficiency, which were decided in Dubai a year ago. Very important things have happened in this direction and the process will continue.” he said.

Referring to the cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan in green energy, Shahbazov said, “We cooperate with Turkey in the field of green energy like no other country. We will develop this cooperation from now on. Green energy will be the next step for us.” he said.
