While agriculture is gradually weakening in Turkey, agricultural lands and lands suitable for agriculture are being opened for development to meet the increasing housing demand. To prevent this, the government is now examining thousands of acres of vacant land and fields.
After the regulation was published in the Official Gazette and came into force, a new process began for the vacant lands and fields.
Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, İbrahim Yumaklı, also stated that the land that has been vacant for two years will be rented by the state and allocated to the villagers engaged in agriculture.
IT WILL BE DETECTED WITHIN 6 MONTHS
Yumaklı said, “It is not your right to keep the land empty for two years for any reason, including inheritance.” and announced that the land will be rented for a year, with priority given to the village people, through electronic tender and at an estimated price. The rental fee will be given to the land owners, and the production and crop will be given to the person who cultivates the land. Minister Yumaklı said, “We know that such lands constitute more than 10 percent of the total land. Why should this land remain empty? Our commissions are working. “It will be determined as of April 5, 2025,” he said.
