Harvest has started in open gardens in Mersin Mut, where a significant portion of table apricot production in Türkiye is produced. The workers started harvesting the geographically indicated table Mut apricots in the open field and sent the products they collected one by one to the market.
It was stated that early table apricots, which have a micro-climate feature and attract attention with their color, smell and appearance, are exported both to the domestic market and to the Middle East, Russia, India and European countries.
It was noted that the yield of table apricots, which is produced in an area of 77 thousand 800 decares, is expected to be 300 thousand tons this year and exports are expected to be approximately 100 thousand tons. It was learned that the apricot, which was productive this year because it cooled well, found buyers at 120 to 250 liras per kilogram, depending on its quality, and made the producers happy.
“We expect good yields”
Bülent Yerebasmaz, one of the producers harvesting in the garden, said, “We are in the Karadiken region of Mersin Mut region. As Mut, we have started our table apricot harvest intensively. As you know, our apricots are our early varieties, we are currently producing in an area of about 230 decares. We expect a good harvest, good luck to all our producers.”
