Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the Euro Region decreased to 2.2 percent on an annual basis in March.
The European Statistics Office (Eurostat) has published final inflation data of the Eurostat and the European Union (EU).
According to data, the annual inflation, which was 2.3 percent in February in the Euro Region, decreased to 2.2 percent in March. CPI increased by 0.6 percent on a monthly basis in March. Core inflation in the euro region was measured by 2.4 percent annually in March and 1 percent monthly.
Thus, in March, the euro region inflation was over 2 percent, which is the target of the European Central Bank (ECB).
Looking at the main components of inflation in March in the Euro Region, the highest annual inflation took place in services with 1.56 percent. Services were followed by food, alcohol and tobacco products with 0.57 percent, non -energy industrial products with 0.16 percent and energy products with minus 0.1 percent.
Annual inflation, which was 2.7 percent in February in the EU, fell to 2.5 percent in March. CPI in the EU increased by 0.5 percent monthly in March.
According to EU -compliant data, in March, the countries with the highest annual basis were Romania with 5.1 percent, Hungary with 4.8 percent and Poland with 4.4 percent.
Annual inflation in March was measured by 2.3 percent in Germany, 0.9 percent in France, 2.1 percent in Italy and 2.2 percent in Spain.
