Fighting continues in the north of the sealed-off coastal strip. According to Palestinian information, a bomb hit a five-story residential building in the town of Beit Lahia.
According to Palestinian reports, almost 100 people have been killed in new Israeli attacks in the north of the Gaza Strip. An Israeli bomb struck a five-story apartment building in Beit Lahia, killing 72 people, the government press office in Gaza, controlled by the Islamist Hamas, said. More deaths were reported in the center of the coastal area.
The house in Beit Lahia housed families who had become refugees within the largely destroyed Gaza Strip. It was said that many women and children were among the victims. The information could not initially be independently verified. Israel’s army has not yet commented on the attack.
The Hamas government press office reported that 24 people died and several others were injured in Israeli air strikes on the refugee settlements of Al-Bureij and Nuseirat in the center of the Gaza Strip. Search parties were looking for dead people and survivors buried by the rubble, it said.
The Hamas-controlled health authority said 47 Palestinians had died in the fighting in the previous 24 hours. The number of Palestinians killed since the war began at the beginning of October 2023 rose to 43,846. However, the information does not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
