Prices and application conditions have become clear for the 15 thousand rental housing project, which was launched as a solution to the rental housing shortage in Istanbul. Minister Kurum announced the details of the project. Applications will start on September 14 and end on September 25. No application fee will be charged.
Minister Kurum’s statements are as follows:
In addition to the 100 thousand social houses we will build in Istanbul, we will also offer 15 thousand rental houses to the service of our citizens. Our TOKİ prepared the entire legal infrastructure and we determined our calendar step by step. Now I explain the details. Our rental houses will be located in Ataşehir, Sancaktepe, Ümraniye and Üsküdar. We planned it in Maltepe, Tuzla, Kartal Başakşehir, Gaziosmanpaşa, Beyoğlu, Güngören, Arnavutköy. We will rent our houses for 3 years. After 3 years, we will determine new rights holders again by lottery. Those who are over 18 years old, married, citizens of the Republic of Türkiye, and whose monthly household income is less than 100 thousand liras will be able to benefit from the campaign. Here, we will require that the applicant must have resided in Istanbul for at least 1 year. One of our conditions is that it does not have a residence registered in the title deed.
Let’s get to the prices. We have determined the rents according to the districts, and in order to facilitate our citizens’ access to housing and balance the market, we will offer our houses of 4 different sizes to the use of our citizens, with rental prices well below market values. We have determined amounts starting from 10 thousand liras for a 1+1 house and 12 thousand liras for a 2+1 house. 3+1 residences will be rented at prices starting from 15 thousand liras, and 4+1 residences will start from 18 thousand liras. We won’t waste any time. We will receive applications on September 14. We will immediately identify the beneficiaries. Together with our President, we will deliver the keys to our first 1,071 rental houses in October. With this step, we will hopefully further reduce rental prices, which are already on a downward trend.
