BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul started the day with a horizontal trend at 14,151.80 points.
BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul, which followed a buying-oriented trend yesterday, completed the day at 14,151.59 points, gaining 0.99 percent in value.
The index rose to 14,151.80 points at the opening today, with an increase of 0.22 points compared to the previous closing. While the banking index gained 0.25 percent in value, the holding index lost 0.26 percent.
Among the sector indices, the biggest gainer was chemicals, petroleum plastics, with 1.32 percent, and the biggest decrease was informatics, with 2.58 percent.
Geopolitical risks in the Middle East determine the direction of global markets. With the ongoing tension between the USA and Iran and supply risks around the Strait of Hormuz, the barrel price of November delivery Brent oil is hovering above 97 dollars. For this reason, it is estimated that the news flow regarding geopolitical developments may continue to be decisive on the direction of stock markets today.
Analysts stated that inflation risks remain due to the fact that energy costs do not decrease, and in this context, the hawkish attitude of global central banks may continue.
In this regard, analysts noted that the importance of the inflation data to be announced on Friday in the USA has increased, and stated that there may be volatility in the expectations regarding the policy steps of the US Federal Reserve (Fed), depending on whether the data is realized in line with expectations or not.
Stating that the data agenda will be calm at home and abroad today, analysts noted that technically, 14,300 and 14,400 points in the BIST 100 index are resistance, while 14,000 and 13,900 points are support.
