Foreign trade volume in Turkish lira increased by 11.3 percent in the January-August period compared to the same period last year, reaching 1 trillion 51 billion 355 million lira and reaching the highest level in 8-month periods.
According to the compilation of data from the Ministry of Commerce, there was a significant increase in foreign trade in Turkish lira on an annual basis in the 8-month period of this year.
Exports in Turkish lira decreased by 6 percent in January compared to the same month last year, reaching 24 billion 727 million lira. Imports increased by 18.8 percent to 83 billion 526 million lira in the first month of the year. Thus, foreign trade volume in the first month of the year amounted to 108 billion 253 million lira.
In the second month of the year, exports in Turkish lira decreased by 2.1 percent compared to February of last year, reaching 27 billion 694 million liras, while imports increased by 10.5 percent and reached 92 billion 868 million liras. In February, foreign trade volume was recorded as 120 billion 562 million lira.
STUNNING INCREASE IN EXPORTS IN APRIL AND AUGUST
While exports in Turkish lira increased by 2.6 percent in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 31 billion 661 million liras, imports increased by 15.1 percent and reached 110 billion 185 million liras. Thus, the foreign trade volume with Turkish lira reached 141 billion 846 million lira in March.
The increase in exports in Turkish lira in April attracted attention. In the month in question, exports increased by 57.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 38 billion 219 million liras, while imports increased by 10.8 percent, reaching 107 billion 669 million liras. Foreign trade volume in April was calculated as 145 billion 888 million liras.
In May, exports in Turkish lira increased by 2.6 percent compared to the same month last year and reached 29 billion 436 million liras, while imports decreased by 8.4 percent to 82 billion 453 million liras. Thus, the foreign trade volume was recorded as 111 billion 889 million lira in May.
Exports in Turkish lira increased by 26 percent in June compared to the same month of 2025, reaching 29 billion 938 million liras, and imports increased by 16.3 percent, reaching 114 billion 550 million liras. During this period, foreign trade volume amounted to 144 billion 488 million lira.
In July, exports in Turkish lira reached 37 billion 70 million lira, an increase of 31.8 percent compared to the same month last year. During this period, imports increased by 2.7 percent to 107 billion 128 million liras, while the trade volume reached 144 billion 198 million liras.
In August, exports in Turkish lira increased by 49.6 percent on an annual basis, reaching 37 billion 966 million lira. Imports were determined as 96 billion 265 million liras, with an increase of 8.9 percent, and foreign trade volume was determined as 134 billion 231 million liras.
8-MONTH FOREIGN TRADE VOLUME INCREASED BY 11.3 PERCENT
In the January-August period of this year, exports in Turkish lira increased by 19 percent compared to the same period last year, from 215 billion 733 million lira to 256 billion 711 million lira. In the same period, imports reached 794 billion 644 million liras, an increase of 9.1 percent from 728 billion 585 million liras.
Thus, the foreign trade volume with Turkish lira increased by 11.3 percent on an annual basis in the January-August period, from 944 billion 318 million liras to 1 trillion 51 billion 355 million liras, reaching the highest level in 8-month periods.
