Eurozone grew by 0.4 percent in the second quarter

While the region’s economy grew by 0.4 percent in the second quarter of the year compared to the previous quarter, employment increased by 0.1 percent in the same period.

The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) announced the preliminary Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employment data of the European Union (EU) and the Eurozone for the second quarter of 2026.

Accordingly, seasonally adjusted GDP in the Eurozone increased by 0.4 percent in the second quarter of the year compared to the previous quarter. In the first quarter, the Eurozone economy remained unchanged compared to the previous quarter.

GDP in the Eurozone increased by 1 percent in the second quarter of the year compared to the same period last year.

Seasonally adjusted GDP in the EU increased by 0.5 percent on a quarterly basis and 1.2 percent on an annual basis in the second quarter of the year. In the first quarter, the EU economy grew by 0.1 percent on a quarterly basis.

GDP increased by 0.2 percent in Germany, France and Italy and by 0.7 percent in Spain in the second quarter compared to the previous quarter.

GDP increased by 0.9 percent in Germany, 0.7 percent in France, 1 percent in Italy and 2.7 percent in Spain in the second quarter compared to the same period last year.

Employment in the Eurozone and the EU increased by 0.1 percent in the second quarter compared to the previous quarter and by 0.5 percent compared to the same period last year.
