Trump’s “Marine One” comes close to passenger jet
A military helicopter carrying the President Donald Trump on board a passenger jet over the US capital WashingtonDC have come very close. As the New York Times (NYT) reports, the distance was less than a mile, about 1.6 kilometers. The incident is said to have happened on Tuesday.
Previously there were said to be communication disruptions between the air traffic controllers in the control tower at Ronald Reagan Airport and the helicopter crew. Trump was on his way to Andrews Air Base.
The crew notified the tower three times that they were now taking off with Marine One, according to the website atc.com. But the pilots apparently didn’t notice this. The presidential helicopter then came into the flight path of an Envoy Air aircraft.
The White House said Trump was not in danger but should work more closely with aviation authorities. The FAA told the NYT there was a moment of disruption.
Trump favorite surprisingly loses
In the Republican primary election in the 8th electoral district of Michigan An unusual constellation emerged: The candidate Amir Hassan, supported by Donald Trump, lost significantly to Tom Smith – a competitor who had temporarily suspended his election campaign. This is particularly explosive because the 8th district is considered “purple”, i.e. a politically hotly contested constituency with significance for the national balance of power.
Hassan, a Navy veteran and former Flint police officer, recently appeared with Trump at a rally in Milford, Michigan, and was considered the president’s favorite. Nevertheless, he was clearly defeated by Tom Smith, a retired engineer. Smith temporarily ended his campaign in mid-July and instead supported another candidate who only came third in the primary. Now Smith has announced that he will fully re-enter the election campaign and challenge Democratic Representative Kristen McDonald Rivet, who is currently representing the district in her first term.
The Democrats also made a groundbreaking decision in Michigan: the socialist Abdul El-Sayed prevailed against the party establishment’s candidate, the experienced congresswoman Haley Stevens. El-Sayed said Democrats must fight as one to teach the “historically corrupt” President Donald Trump and his Republicans a lesson.
