The London Stock Exchange (LSE) announced that it plans to launch LSE 24, a new trading platform that will be available 24 hours a day to support next-generation, digital and brokered trading.

According to the statement made by LSE Group (LSEG), LSE aims to offer global investors greater flexibility to react to market developments, access liquidity and manage risk in different time zones throughout the day with 24.

The LSE 24 platform, which will be established within the scope of LSEG’s financial market infrastructure and will serve almost 24 hours a day, is planned to operate from 17.00 until 07.50 the next day. There will be a half-hour break on the platform between 18.30-19.00 for the end-of-day transaction process.

Trading will continue in the main market of the London Stock Exchange between 08.00-16.30.

LSE 24 will be available for testing by investors by the end of this year and, with regulatory approval, will launch Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) as its first asset class in the first half of 2027.

In her assessment of the new plans, LSE Chief Executive Julia Hoggett described the launch of LSE 24 as an important step for the development of the markets.

Stating that this step will offer users more flexibility beyond traditional trading hours, Hoggett said, “By integrating with LSEG’s digital market infrastructure, LSE 24 will contribute to deeper liquidity, higher efficiency and broader participation in our markets and strengthen London’s position as a leading global financial centre.” he said.
