The total amount of payments made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in June increased by 50 percent compared to the same month last year and reached 2 trillion 867.7 billion lira.

Accordingly, as of June, the number of credit cards in Türkiye was 150.4 million, debit cards 221.6 million, and prepaid cards 99.7 million. While there was an 11 percent increase in the number of credit cards and a 3 percent increase in debit cards compared to the same period last year, the number of prepaid cards decreased by 4 percent. The total number of cards increased by 4 percent, reaching 471.7 million.
The total amount of payments made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in June increased by 50 percent compared to the same period last year and reached 2 trillion 867.7 billion liras. 2 trillion 463.7 billion lira of these payments were made with credit cards, 396.2 billion lira with debit cards and 7.8 billion lira with prepaid cards.
In the same period, the payment amount increased by 53 percent in credit cards and 37 percent in debit cards, while it decreased by 35 percent in prepaid cards.
The number of payments made by cards increased by 14 percent to 1.9 billion. Of this, 1 billion 132 million were credit cards, 776.3 million were debit cards, and 34.9 million were prepaid cards.
While the growth rate in payment numbers increased by 16 percent for credit cards and 16 percent for debit cards compared to the same period last year, the number of payments made with prepaid cards decreased by 28 percent.
ONLINE CARD PAYMENTS REACHED 891.6 BILLION LIRAS
Last month, the amount of card payments made online reached 891.6 billion lira, increasing by 60 percent on an annual basis. The share of online card payments in total was 31 percent.
In the same period, the number of online card payments increased by 17 percent to 260.7 million. The share of online card payments in total was 14 percent.
The number of contactless payments made with cards increased by 13 percent to 1 billion 300.7 million. The amount of contactless payments increased by 45 percent in the same period, reaching 939.3 billion lira. In June, 4 out of every 5 card payments made in-store were made contactless.
