The war between Iran and the USA continues to escalate. US President Donald Trump announces new plans for the Strait of Hormuz.
The US military says it is attacking Iranian targets again. At 4:45 p.m. US local time (10:45 p.m. German time), the armed forces launched attacks for the third night in a row, the responsible regional command of the US military (Centcom) announced on Platform X. These attacks would destroy the ability of the Iran further restrict attacks on innocent civilians and merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz to exercise, it was said.
US President Donald Trump had recently announced further attacks by his country on Iran. The country will be hit hard tonight – just like tomorrow, he said in a radio interview on Monday afternoon (local time). Iran can do nothing about it, he emphasized.
USA announces resumption of naval blockade
In the Strait of Hormuz conflict, Trump also announced the resumption of the naval blockade against ships heading to or departing from Iranian ports. All other countries should be able to have “fair and open” access to the strait, he said on his platform Truth Social with.
The US President had already announced on Fox News on Monday that the USA want to “take over” the Strait of Hormuz again and want to be compensated for military security. The president had already threatened a kind of toll for the Strait of Hormuz in June if negotiations with Iran failed.

A spokesman for the Iranian military command said in a video message that Tehran would “under no circumstances allow” US intervention in the strategically important strait. Any cooperation between the Gulf states Washington is also considered an “act of war”.
20 percent tax on freight
However, Trump wants to pay dearly for securing the strait. On Truth Social, he announced that in return for the deployment of the US military, he would demand a fee of 20 percent of the value of the cargo shipped. The US President did not initially say how he planned to implement this. However, the process should begin “immediately,” said Trump.
The UN shipping organization IMO, however, rejects US President Donald Trump’s plans for a freight fee in the Strait of Hormuz. The organization says there is no legal basis for such a levy. According to its own statements, the IMO strictly rejects passage fees for international straits. Representatives of the shipping industry express concern and say that they believe such a move violates international law.
