The Brexit politician was found dead in her home on Dartmoor. A supposed success in the search turned out to be a false lead. Now there is a new suspect.

There is a new suspect in the alleged murder of British Brexit icon Ann Widdecombe. After a 26-year-old man had to be released again, a 28-year-old is now the focus of the investigation. The white British man was arrested at a residential address in the county of South Yorkshire in northern England, Devon and Cornwall Police said. However, there is still no evidence of a terrorist background, the statement continued. It was initially unclear what the possible motive for the crime was. However, a police spokesman emphasized again at a press conference on Sunday that there was nothing that indicated a political background.

The mysterious case is currently ongoing Great Britain in breath. The 78-year-old former MP and die-hard Brexit supporter Widdecombe was found dead in her home on Dartmoor in Devon. Her body showed serious injuries. The police are investigating murder.

Widdecombe held ultra-conservative views

Widdecombe was a Conservative MP in the British House of Commons for years and eventually sat as a member of the European Parliament as a staunch supporter of leaving the EU for Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party. She later served as spokesperson for the successor party, Reform UK. The politician, who converted to Catholicism, also represented ultra-conservative views. For example, she called for the reintroduction of the death penalty, spoke out against same-sex marriage and the self-determination of trans people about their gender.

Widdecombe was also no stranger to British entertainment television: she appeared on the dance show “Strictly Come Dancing” and on “Celebrity Big Brother”.
