The original “Resident Evil – Code Veronica” was set three months after the events of 1998’s “Resident Evil 2” and concurrent with 1999’s “Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.”

The story follows the efforts of “Resident Evil” characters Claire Redfield and her brother Chris Redfield to survive a viral outbreak on a deserted prison island in the Southern Ocean and a research facility in Antarctica. According to Capcom’s statement, the new survival horror game “Resident Evil: Veronica” aims to redesign the experience for new players while returning to the classic game of the “Resident Evil” series.

Capcom’s last “Resident Evil” game was “Resident Evil Requiem”, the ninth main entry in the series. This game, released in February, was about the new character FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft. Grace, with the help of federal agent Leon S. Kennedy, whom we know from the previous games of the “Resident Evil” series, was investigating a series of mysterious deaths involving survivors of the Raccoon City incident.

The trailer showcased a complete visual overhaul, featuring next-gen graphics, improved lighting, redesigned cutscenes, and a much darker, more cinematic tone. Environments feel more immersive and detailed than ever before, emphasizing the survival horror atmosphere the series is known for – limited resources, constant tension, and unpredictable danger around every corner.

The game is planned to be released for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
