“I’m not in a hurry”: Trump comments on Iran talks
After reports of an agreement on a framework agreement between the USA and Iran, US President Donald Trump is stepping on the brakes: According to US media reports, Trump sent the fully negotiated agreement back to Tehran with “tougher conditions”. Trump told Fox News that he was “in no rush.” Iran’s chief negotiator and parliament speaker Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf said on Sunday that Tehran would not agree to any agreement that did not protect the rights of Iranians.
According to information from US circles, the framework agreement negotiated in weeks of negotiations with Pakistani mediation provided, among other things, an extension of the ceasefire by 60 days, in-depth negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program and the opening of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Accordingly, the only thing missing from the contract on Friday was Trump’s signature.
According to a report in the New York Times, Trump was dissatisfied with the negotiated agreement and sent her back to Tehran with harsher conditions. In a Fox News interview, the US President dampened hopes of an agreement and hinted at new attacks on targets in Iran if Tehran did not respond to his demands: “Slowly but surely we are getting what we want, and if we don’t get what we want, we will get it another way,” said Trump.

Difficult access to Green Card: US government backtracks
After a wave of public outrage, the US government has weakened its plans to restrict access to the permanent residency permit known as the green card. The US Secretary of Homeland Security announced that the new regulation, according to which the Green Card can only be applied for from abroad, will ultimately not apply to all applicants. Instead, the rule should be applied “on a case-by-case basis.”
“It merely served as a reminder to officials to exercise their discretion,” the ministry said. Officials could decide whether to require applicants to leave the U.S. to submit their application.
Last week, the responsible immigration authority USCIS stated that from now on, applicants must in most cases apply for a green card from abroad and are not allowed to already be in the USA. Exceptions should therefore only be made in “extraordinary circumstances”. The USA issues more than a million green cards every year. More than half of the applicants were already in the USA when they applied.
