Türkiye’s installed electricity capacity increased to 125 thousand 410 megawatts as of the end of April.

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, renewable energy constituted 78 thousand 377 megawatts, corresponding to 62.5 percent of the total electricity installed power. The share of domestic resources was 71.7 percent.

The share of solar in electricity installed power increased to 21.3 percent with 26 thousand 769 megawatts. The share of wind reaching 15 thousand 75 megawatts was recorded as 12 percent.

The total installed capacity of solar and wind increased to 41 thousand 844 megawatts with a share of 33.3 percent in April. Thus, 1/3 of the total installed power, which reached 125 thousand 410 megawatts, consisted of wind and solar alone.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, whose views were included in the statement, said, “We have reached an installed power of 26 thousand 769 megawatts from zero in the last 13 years in solar alone. Solar will surpass hydraulic power at the end of this year and reach the top in total installed power.” he said.

Stating that the electricity installed capacity continues to increase, Bayraktar noted that renewable energy, which makes a significant contribution to Türkiye’s “2035 Net Zero Emission” target, is increasingly gaining a place in the installed power.

Reminding that they broke a record with the wind and solar power plants commissioned in 2024, Bayraktar said, “Hopefully, we will break a new record in this field with the 2025 Renewable Energy Investments Mass Opening Ceremony, which we will hold next week with the presence of our President (Recep Tayyip Erdoğan).” made his assessment.
