Trump: Iran’s enriched uranium will be destroyed

Donald Trump hints at a possible framework agreement to end the Iran war. Its details are unclear. Now the US President is talking about the uranium that has already been enriched in Iran.
According to US President Donald Trump, the uranium that has already been enriched in Iran should be destroyed in the USA or elsewhere. Either it will be handed over “immediately” to the United States to be brought to the United States and destroyed there, or destroyed locally or elsewhere in cooperation and coordination with Iran, the Republican wrote on the Truth Social platform. The process should be monitored by nuclear energy experts, said Trump – and referred to the “Atomic Energy Commission”. It was initially unclear whether he meant a US authority or possibly the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), based in Vienna.
It also remained unclear whether Trump reflected the current status of negotiations around a possible framework agreement for an end to the Iran war – i.e. whether it is just a demand that the US government is making in the talks or whether it could be an already agreed part of the deal. The handling of around 400 kilograms of Tehran’s highly enriched uranium is a central point of contention in the negotiations. At the weekend, Trump announced that a framework agreement had been “largely” negotiated.
Israel and the USA went to war together against Iran on February 28th. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that in a telephone conversation with Trump the evening before, both agreed “that any final agreement with Iran must eliminate the nuclear threat.” This means that Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities must be dismantled and stocks of highly enriched uranium must be removed from the country.
