Data published by TUIK showed that after the strong agricultural frost last year, crop production, especially fruit, will increase significantly this year.
According to the data, it was estimated that the production amounts of grain products would increase by 21.7 percent compared to the previous year, reaching approximately 41.6 million tons in 2026.
Compared to the previous year, it was predicted that wheat production would increase by 26.7 percent to approximately 22.8 million tons, barley production would increase by 50 percent to 9 million tons, and rye production would increase by 12.3 percent to 228,300 tons. It was predicted that corn production would decrease by 5.9 percent this year, reaching 8 million tons.
As for the fruit most affected by agricultural frost, it was estimated that the production amount would increase by 57.8 percent this year compared to the previous year, reaching approximately 31 million tons.
According to the data, in the fruits group, a production increase of 93.6 percent in apples, 1.4 percent in strawberries, 88.6 percent in peaches, 107.7 percent in nectarines, 255.7 percent in cherries and 53 percent in grapes is expected compared to the previous year.
In addition, it is estimated that there will be a production increase of 46.3 percent in tangerines, 63.9 percent in oranges, 63.8 percent in lemons, 62.2 percent in hazelnuts, 95.1 percent in walnuts, and 113.6 percent in pistachios.
