Agricultural workers who thin fruit in a 100-decare nectar garden in the Fevzipaşa District of Reyhanlı district work with a daily wage of 1,100 TL.
While the daily wage was 920 TL in 2025, it increased this year to 1,100 TL. Agricultural workers roll up their sleeves to earn a living even on days when the temperature is high.
Agricultural worker Ali Yavaş said, “If we do not thin, the fruit will spoil and not grow. This will lead to a bad harvest.”
Soft explained that when diluting, there should be space between the nectarines and that there should be at least 4 and at most 7 fruits on each branch. Workers start working around 06:00 in the morning and go home around 13:00 in the afternoon.
