BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul started the day at 12,709.29 points with an increase of 0.09 percent.
BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul, which followed a sales-oriented trend on Friday, finished the day at 12,698.19 points, losing 0.23 percent of its value.
At the opening today, BIST 100 index increased by 11.10 points and 0.09 percent compared to the previous closing, reaching 12,709.29 points. The banking index lost 0.21 percent and the holding index lost 0.09 percent.
Among the sector indices, the highest gain was chemical petroleum plastics with 1.24 percent, and the most decreasing was securities investment trust with 0.65 percent.
While global markets started the week negatively with the rise in risks in the Middle East and the increase in energy prices, domestic markets diverged positively from global markets.
As the US and Israel’s attacks on Iran enter their 5th week, the decline in hopes that the attacks will end continues to negatively affect the stock markets. Although optimism about the end of the war increased from time to time last week, it did not last. Tensions increased again in the new week, causing sales pressure to continue in global markets.
While the perception of risk continues in global markets due to predictions that energy prices may continue to remain relatively high, investors are being cautious due to concerns that high oil prices may negatively affect global economic growth.
Analysts stated that today the economic confidence index in the country, the statements of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, inflation in Germany and the consumer confidence index in the Euro Zone will be followed abroad. From a technical perspective, analysts noted that 12,600 and 12,500 points in the BIST 100 index are support, and 12,800 and 12,900 levels are resistance.
