After the image spread, some users claimed that this structure indicated the existence of an advanced civilization on Mars in the past. Especially on platforms focusing on paranormal content, photographs began to be presented as “evidence”.

According to planetary scientist Michael Carr, Mars had a very active geology, especially in the past. There is no need for advanced civilizations to explain such structures. Natural erosion processes can create sharp, geometric shapes that appear artificial when viewed from certain angles.
Scientists also state that this situation is related to a perception error known as “pareidolia”. The human brain tends to assimilate random shapes into meaningful objects. For this reason, situations such as seeing faces in clouds or distinguishing shapes in coffee stains can also occur in Mars images.
