Before the arrival of ground troops, the air force and artillery carried out “attacks against numerous terrorist targets” in order to “reduce the threats in the operational area.”

Australia will not send naval ships to the Strait of Hormuz to provide support. Minister Catherine King, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport in Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s cabinet, said this in an interview with state broadcaster ABC. They are aware of the importance of the strait, but will not take part in a naval mission. Donald Trump has accused Iran of using artificial intelligence (AI) as a “disinformation weapon” in the war with the USA and Israel. On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump gave three examples of alleged deception. Iran showed non-existent “kamikaze boats” and falsely portrayed a successful attack on the aircraft carrier “USS Abraham Lincoln.” In addition, images showing 250,000 Iranians at a rally for the new supreme leader Moschtaba Khamenei were “completely AI-generated.” However, Reuters news agency has verified images showing an attack by Iranian boats on two tankers. A Reuters investigation also found no reports from Western media that put a figure of 250,000 participants at a rally.

According to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Israeli attacks on fuel depots in Tehran constitute an “ecocide” due to the long-term health risks for local residents. The attacks “violate international law and constitute ecocide,” Araghchi said on the online service X on Monday. Residents are exposed to “long-term damage to their health.” Additionally, “contamination of soil and groundwater could have repercussions for generations.”

Five people were injured in a rocket attack on Baghdad’s international airport on Sunday. The Iraqi security forces said a total of five rockets were fired in the direction of the airport. Rocket shells hit mainly the grounds of the civilian airport, where no planes are currently taking off or landing because of the Iran war. There is also a US diplomatic mission on the huge airport site.

According to reports, projectiles also hit a water treatment plant and a prison near the airport where fighters from the jihadist militia “Islamic State” (IS) are imprisoned. The Iraqi government had recently expressed concern about attacks near the prison. Impacts near Al-Karch prison raised “fears for the security of the prison, which houses high-risk terrorist prisoners.”
