The decline in KKM balance continues

Exchange rate protected Turkish lira deposit and participation accounts (KKM) decreased by 19 million lira to 1 billion 454 million lira last week.

According to the weekly bulletin published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the total credit volume of the banking sector increased by 90 billion 183 million liras as of April 24, from 25 trillion 199 billion 992 million liras to 25 trillion 290 billion 176 million liras.

Total deposits in the banking sector, including interbanks, decreased by 269 billion 170 million liras last week, falling from 29 trillion 312 billion 475 million liras to 29 trillion 43 billion 306 million liras.

– Consumer loans increased to 3 trillion 188 billion lira

The amount of consumer loans increased by 34 billion 686 million lira in this period, reaching 3 trillion 187 billion 763 million lira. Of the amount in question, 762 billion 599 million lira consisted of housing loans, 45 billion 4 million lira from vehicle loans and 2 trillion 380 billion 160 million lira from consumer loans.

During this period, the amount of installment commercial loans increased by 11 billion 863 million liras and reached 3 trillion 930 billion 99 million liras. Banks’ individual credit card receivables increased by 1.6 percent, reaching 3 trillion 34 billion 258 million lira.

Of the individual credit card receivables, 1 trillion 165 billion 683 million liras were installment debts, and 1 trillion 868 billion 575 million liras were non-installment debts.

LEGAL EQUITY HAS DECREASED

As of April 24, non-performing receivables in the banking sector increased by 3 billion 960 million liras compared to the previous week, reaching 697 billion 124 million liras. A special provision was allocated for 524 billion 32 million liras of non-performing receivables.

In the same period, the legal equity capital of the banking system decreased by 1 billion 901 million liras to 5 trillion 548 billion 218 million liras.

KKM balance decreased by 19 million lira last week, falling to 1 billion 454 million lira. Thus, the size of KKM constituted 0.01 percent of the total deposits.
