Donald Trump is said to have suddenly examined the feet of his most important ministers during a meeting. Shortly afterwards they both received mail from the president.

Donald Trump likes to guess the shoe size of his ministers, reports the Wall Street Journal. But that’s not all – when the US President is sure about the size, he orders the right shoes for his cabinet members. The recipients then receive a brown shoebox, sometimes with a signature or a short note from Trump. White House employees reported that shoeboxes were already piling up in the office next to Trump.

The shoes are Oxford leather shoes from the US brand Florsheim. A White House aide remarked wryly, “All the boys have them.” Another said: “It’s hysterical because everyone is scared not to wear them.”

The models are priced at $145 – according to the White House, Trump pays for the shoes for himself and his recipients. According to various reports, the 79-year-old began looking for more comfortable shoes for his long working days last year. After he decided on Florsheim, he started ordering pairs for other people too.

Trump had the enthusiasm of a shoe salesman when handing over his favorite shoes, the Wall Street Journal continued. “Did you get the shoes?” Trump regularly asks his ministers, according to several people. Some even had to try them on right in the Oval Office.

The Wall Street Journal also reports a scene in December in which Trump looked at the feet of his Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the Oval Office. “Marco, JD, you have sexy shoes,” said the US president while leafing through a catalog. Trump asked the shoe size of his two most important cabinet members. “You can tell a lot about a man by his shoe size,” he explained.

Rubio and Vance got their Florsheims after that meeting. Cabinet members such as Pete Hegseth and Howard Lutnick are now also among the recipients – as are conservative media figures such as Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson as well as Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
