Six US crew members died in a plane crash. The US Army probably uses huge amounts of ammunition. All developments in the news blog.

Iran’s new supreme leader, Moschtaba Khamenei, is injured, according to US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The US knew that he was “wounded and probably disfigured,” Hegseth said at a press conference. He did not explain what the injuries were or how they came about. Read more about it here.

According to the American military, all six crew members died when the US tanker plane crashed over Iraq. The army thus confirms the death of two people whose fate had not previously been known. Initially there was talk of four deaths.

According to Downing Street, aircraft from the British Royal Air Force (RAF) patrolled Bahrain on Friday night for the first time since the start of the Iran war. “Overnight, British jets flew air defense missions specifically to protect Bahrain for the first time,” a spokesman for Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, according to the PA news agency.

According to Downing Street, the fighter jets searched the airspace over the island nation for Iranian drones “that were heading towards Bahrain.” The RAF is now flying to protect the British population, bases and our partners in Qatar, Cyprus, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Bahrain, the statement added, according to PA.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced his country’s most extensive attacks to date in the war against Iran. “In fact, today will again be the highest number of attacks” the US has ever carried out in Iran. US Chief of Staff Dan Caine also spoke of the most violent attacks since the war with Iran began almost two weeks ago. US officials have repeatedly spoken of the war as the toughest attacks to date.

Hegseth now emphasized that, in addition to destroying Iran’s air force, navy and missile arsenal, the US was primarily focused on ensuring that Iran would no longer be able to produce missiles in the future. For example, Iran’s ability to produce ballistic missiles was eliminated by destroying companies that produced components for them.
