Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu evaluated the 2024 passenger data announced by TCDD Taşımacılık. Minister Uraloğlu said, “In 2024, 279 million 426 thousand 382 citizens benefited from high-speed, mainline and regional trains and urban rail system projects.” He made a statement.
NUMBER OF PEOPLE USING RAIL SYSTEMS
Noting that the number of passengers traveling on YHTs reached 12 million 463 thousand 297 in 2024, Uraloğlu said, “This year, a total of 10 million 721 thousand 613 passengers used our regional and mainline trains.” he said. Emphasizing that urban rail systems offer an important solution in reducing traffic congestion in metropolitan cities, Uraloğlu stated that 256 million 241 thousand 472 citizens benefited from rail system lines in a year.
PASSENGER FIGURES OF ISTANBUL
Providing information about the number of passengers carried on the Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme, Gayrettepe-İstanbul Airport-Arnavutköy metro lines, especially Marmaray, operated by TCDD Taşımacılık in Istanbul, Minister Uraloğlu continued his words as follows:
“Marmaray, the project of the century that connects the two sides of Istanbul by railway, served 218 million 886 thousand 16 citizens between Gebze and Halkalı throughout the year. 3 million 159 thousand 496 citizens used the Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme Line, and 9 million 659 thousand 688 citizens used the Gayrettepe-İstanbul Airport-Arnavutköy Line. Including the Halkalı-Bahçeşehir Line, 231 million 808 thousand 773 people used our lines in Istanbul.”
Minister Uraloğlu also evaluated the passenger data of Başkentray, which passes through the city center in Ankara. “The number of passengers on our Sincan-Kayaş line, which serves integrated with YHT, is constantly increasing. “We served 24 million 432 thousand 699 passengers with Başkentray throughout the year.” He made a statement.
Stating that they have made a breakthrough in transportation to Turkey with High Speed Trains, Minister Uraloğlu stated that customer satisfaction research is conducted regularly every year by TCDD General Directorate of Transportation, with the aim of delivering every passenger satisfactorily.
Evaluating the 2024 satisfaction survey, Minister Uraloğlu said, “Our customer satisfaction reached a high score of 4.09/5. 88.2 percent of our passengers traveling on YHTs stated that they were satisfied with YHTs, 93.9 percent recommended traveling by YHT, and 95.9 percent stated that they planned to travel by YHT again. “In line with our goal of offering the best to our passengers, the entire team continues to work to increase passenger satisfaction to 100 percent.” he said.
Minister Uraloğlu stated that TCDD Taşımacılık, which started its activities on January 1, 2017 within the scope of the “Law on the Liberalization of Turkish Railway Transport” that came into force in 2013, is celebrating its 8th anniversary and continued his words as follows:
“TCDD Transportation has gained significant momentum in our country’s railway transportation and has undertaken major projects since the day it was founded. Today, after 8 years, it has accelerated the modernization process in the sector by increasing the competition in railway transportation and continues to provide services in a wide range from passenger transportation to freight transportation. “TCDD Transportation, which has made great contributions to the strengthening of Turkey’s transportation infrastructure, will continue to play a critical role in achieving Turkey’s transportation goals in the future.”
