In the statement made by the Ministry, “In order to protect the interests of consumers, the Ministry of Commerce initiated an investigation into companies that provide internet service provision and digital platforms that provide broadcast and content services such as personalized movies, series, documentaries, comedies and sports.
During the audits carried out, digital platform and internet service provider companies demanded a fee from consumers for services not actually provided, made changes to the terms of the contract to the detriment of the consumer within the commitment period, did not provide services of the promised quality, did not fulfill subscription termination requests within the period, and invoiced consumers who did not benefit from any service. Practices against the legislation, such as charging them a fee, were detected.
“In this context, an administrative fine of 24 million lira was imposed on digital platform and internet service provider companies due to the grievances caused to consumers.”
