In his written statement, Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş stated that they will continue the educational aid they provide for those in need in the new academic year.

In this context, Göktaş stated that educational material aid was provided to meet the basic school needs of the students, and that needs such as stationery, school uniforms, shoes and winter clothes were delivered to the students.

Noting that support was provided for accommodation, transportation and food expenses of students who were excluded from bussed education, Göktaş stated that exam preparation materials were provided for students preparing for high school and university exams.

Minister Göktaş stated that students’ participation in trips and sports activities is supported, and that various educational aids are continued for Turkish students studying at higher education institutions in the country and within the scope of the Social Assistance and Solidarity Encouragement Law No. 3294.

Stating that the transportation expenses of students in need who continue their formal education away from their families are also supported, Göktaş reminded that students can also benefit from the Support Program for Covering Transportation Expenses, which consists of a total of four tickets for 2 rounds and 2 returns per year, which they can use to go to their families and return.

“IT WILL BE USED FOR IN-KIND OR CASH ASSISTANCE”

Emphasizing that the main purpose of education aid is to meet the needs of students who are in needy households and continue their education life, Göktaş said, “We aim to reach more students and increase the effectiveness of the aid.” he said.

Göktaş reminded that approximately 92 million liras were transferred from the Social Assistance and Solidarity Encouragement (SYDT) Fund within the scope of the Support Program for Covering Transportation Expenses in the January-July period of 2026.

Underlining that they attach importance to increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of educational aid for the children of needy households who continue formal education at primary and secondary education levels, Göktaş noted that in this context, approximately 6 billion liras have been transferred from the SYDT Fund to SYDVs since 2021.

Minister Göktaş stated that for the same purpose, approximately 2 billion liras of resources were transferred to SYDVs for the first semester of the 2026-2027 academic year, and that these will be used to provide in-kind or cash aid to meet the educational needs of students in needy households.
