Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced the passenger and aircraft traffic statistics of Rize-Artvin Airport, Turkey’s second airport built using the sea fill method. Emphasizing that according to 2024 data, a total of 754 thousand 102 passenger traffic was carried out at Rize-Artvin Airport in the first 8 months, 737 thousand 160 on domestic lines and 16 thousand 942 on international lines, Minister Uraloğlu reported that there was a 43 percent increase in passenger traffic compared to 2022. Reminding that the number of passengers using this airport in 2022 was 526 thousand 880, Uraloğlu said, “Our Rize-Artvin Airport has served a total of 2 million 304 thousand 903 passengers in 16 thousand 297 flights since its opening on May 14, 2022.”
Minister Uraloğlu, who also provided information about Rize-Artvin Airport aircraft traffic, stated that 3,760 aircraft traffic was served in 2022 and said, “In the first 8 months, a total of 5,073 aircraft traffic took place at our airport, 4,901 on domestic lines and 172 on international lines. Aircraft traffic increased by 35 percent compared to 2022, when we put our airport into service.”
