The X company applied to the New York Southern Regional Court against the law, which entered into force in December 2024 in the state.

According to the document submitted to the court, the company suggested that the state was trying to be involved in the content control process, together with the law that requested a report on the steps they took to control their hate speech from social media platforms.

The company argued that the law violated the right to freedom of expression in the constitution, and stressed that the inspection of which content to be included in social media platforms is in danger the formation of a productive discussion environment on which statements will be accepted as hate speech.

In 2024, the Company X filed a lawsuit against California for a similar law, and as a result of the case, the obligation to submit a content inspection report on hate speech on the platforms owned by companies was repealed.
