The widow thanks those who “ensure that Renee’s legacy is one of kindness and love. We honor her by living by her values: by rejecting hate and choosing compassion. By turning away from fear and seeking peace. By denying division and knowing that we must come together to create a world in which we can come home safely to the people we love.”

Good leaves behind a 15-year-old daughter and two sons, ages 12 and 6, according to the Washington Post. Good’s father said in an interview with the medium on Wednesday evening that she had “a good but hard life” and was “a wonderful person.”

The US authorities did not comment on her nationality, but Democratic Senator Tina Smith described Good as a US citizen in a post on the X platform.

According to research by The Washington Post, Good was originally from Colorado Springs and once hosted a podcast with her then-husband, the late comedian Tim Macklin. The aforementioned six-year-old son is said to have emerged from this marriage.

Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, told the Minnesota Star Tribune that her daughter “had nothing to do with any of this” and was apolitical. “She was probably just really scared,” said Ganger.

An ICE operation in Minneapolis and St. Paul involving more than 2,000 federal agents, according to the Department of Homeland Security, has been underway for several days. The aim of the operations is therefore to investigate suspected fraud, including in the Somali community.

The reason given by the authorities is presumably seen as a pretext for a politically motivated tightening of immigration policy. After all, Trump massively tightened deportation practices in his second term in office, which will last almost a year. ICE operations are an important part of this; the agency’s raids against migrants, sometimes with masked officers, regularly lead to protests in many democratically governed cities.
