The minimum wage interim increase 2024 remains on the main agenda after the increase in inflation figures and the redetermination of the rent increase rate. Minimum wage earners were expecting a raise in July.
At this point, questions such as “Was there a minimum wage increase in July, is there an interim increase in the minimum wage?” are being put on the table for 6.5 million minimum wage earners. Here are the details about the 2024 minimum wage increase rates…
MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE 2024
In the last minimum wage increase, workers, employers and government officials agreed on a 1-time minimum wage increase. The increase, which was normally expected to be 30-35 percent, was made 50 percent. However, due to the fact that prices did not stay the same due to inflation, there was an expectation of an interim increase for the minimum wage earner.
WILL THERE BE AN ADDITIONAL INCREASE IN THE MINIMUM WAGE?
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, in his last speech on this issue, said, “There will be no increase in the minimum wage.”
There is currently no such issue as an interim increase in the minimum wage on the agenda.
Işıkhan answered questions from parliament reporters before the AK Party TBMM Group Meeting. In response to a journalist’s question, “Will there be an interim increase in the minimum wage?” Işıkhan replied, “There will be no increase in the minimum wage. We stated this last December. The indicators are also very positive. Hopefully, we will come together in December to determine the minimum wage.”
