He and his wife, Gwen Walz, had tried unsuccessfully for years to have children. Only with fertility treatment could the couple finally fulfill their wish: the result is their children Hope and Gus Walz. Tim Walz stands for an America in which everyone can love whoever they want and for a country in which people have access to artificial insemination and abortion.
When Walz thanked his family, emotions ran high. His wife and daughter were close to tears, but his son Gus Walz was particularly moved by the speech.
